Test Position of Uterus

If you look at the images above, you can see that a women’s uterus is to be bent slightly forward towards her belly button. If the uterus is bent way too far forward or backwards, it can cause problems.
If the uterus is leaning backwards and flexed (i.e. retroflexed), it can PUSH up against the intestines, which can lead to GI problems like constipation or pain with a bowel movement. This worsens with a larger uterus, like when a women is near her period (full of thick tissue about to bleed out) or with fibroids.
If the uterus is tipped to the side, it could press against the ileocecal valve. This can affect a lot – like SIBO, which can contribute to IBS symptoms including constipation and diarrhea.
ACTION STEPS:
1. Find out about the position of your uterus by asking your ob/gyne to do a pelvic exam or pelvic ultrasound.
